I’d been hearing great things about Virgin Voyages. And for years I’d wanted to go to Roatan to scuba dive. So in keeping with my usual trend of booking my solo trips last minute, I saw this option and booked it super last minute.
I LOVED this trip. LOVED Virgin Voyages. LOVED everything about it. The people were so open and casual. The vibe was low key but fun. The food was fantastic. The shows were great. I really can’t say enough good things about it!
I started with an overnight in Miami before boarding the Valiant Lady.

Once I got my dinner reservations set for the week, and settled into my cabin, I hit the solo meetup. They set up a solo dinner for all of us and I’m so glad I went. I was mostly looking forward to having some alone time, but it was nice to meet some folks to hang out with off and on.
We had rough seas the first day which made me pretty motion sick. But luckily things got better from there.

Eventually we made it to Roatan, Honduras. I was so excited. I booked an excursion to go snorkeling. It ended up being one of the worst shore excursions I’ve ever taken. We drove across the island, then geared up and boarded the saddest boat. We were smushed in and it was so full that the sides were more or less at the water line and I worried we might sink. Then because we had some many folks, it was really crowded at the site and people who don’t know how to snorkel were running into me and each other. And frankly, the site wasn’t that great. It had some really cool starfish, but was overall underwhelming.
After visiting two snorkeling sites, we had some time to hang out at the “beach club”. It was pretty sad. Despite all this, I was still so happy to get there, get in the water, and see some fish!

Aside from getting to Roatan, one of the things I was most looking forward to was Scarlet Night. Every one wears red and there are activities and parties all over the ship. It was amazing! I had the best time and even got picked to be the Maid of Honor at the wedding. I’d explain more, but don’t want to ruin it for anyone that might take one of these cruises (although my pictures will give it away).
Luckily I’d decided to go to the pool deck before the party got there, which proved to be genius as I was able to snag a seat for the festivities!

Another thing I’d been excited about was the food! They have over 7 restaurants on board and I was excited to try them all. The food absolutely lived up to the hype.

I even got to try out the Test Kitchen and its fun 6 course menu. I liked most of the courses, and it was definitely one of the more interesting meals I’ve ever had.

I also hit up most of the shows. These were so fun. Who knew Bingo could be so entertaining?! And the Miss Behave Show was a riot.

Plus I attended the Ship Show and more…

We made a stop somewhere in Mexico. I didn’t even bother to get off the boat as I was happy to chill on a quiet boat.

The last stop was at their private beach club in Bimini. Its gorgeous here. I had a great time hanging out on the beach, then going to the pool party.

I ran into the some of the folks I’d met at the initial solo meetup and joined them for drinks, trivia, happy hour, and more. I also hung out all over the ship although my favorite spot was enjoying the Porn Star Martinis – called the Entertainer on board – in this lounge while listening to jazz.

Unfortunately someone had a medical emergency so we raced back to Miami the last night. We didn’t have to disembark, and it was cool coming into the city at night.

In case it wasn’t obvious by now, I had a blast on this cruise! Despite being solo, there were so many things going on that I never got bored. My fellow cruisers were the best and the whole vibe just made me so happy. I look forward to many more VV cruises and next time, I’m bringing Chuck!
