Mendoza, Argentina

Mendoza had been on my short list for Argentina for a very long time. And once I looked at pictures of some of the bodegas (wineries), I knew I needed to work this into our trip.

Our arrival to Mendoza started with some drama as we got in a (minor) car accident on the taxi ride from the airport to the hotel. We were in a traffic circle when a truck came across, and despite our driver honking and braking hard, the truck sideswiped our taxi and took off part of the mirror. We weren’t hurt, but had to stand in the traffic circle for quite some time till another taxi came to take us to the hotel.

Once we checked in and had lunch, we headed out to explore.

There was an Italian Festival happening in Plaza Italia that evening that we wandered through.

The next day was wine day! After an amazing afternoon, we wandered to Avenida Perú, which is lined with restaurants and bars, and grabbed some dinner.

Our final day we were going to try to hit some more wineries, but ultimately decided on a more chill day. After lunch, we headed to Parque General San Martín which is a massive park right in downtown.

Then we headed to the Park Hyatt Mendoza for a glass of wine at their bar. For dinner, we ate at Carolino Cocina where I got a pretty decent beef wellington and tasty chocolate molten lava cake.

The next morning we were up around 5am for an early flight to Lima, Peru.

All and all, I enjoyed our time in Mendoza. The town was worth visiting once, but I’d easily go back for more winery days.
